Crossroads Church embarked on an ambitious transformation of its 3,500-seat Oakley auditorium in Cincinnati, creating a future-ready immersive environment capable of operating simultaneously as a live venue, broadcast-ready XR stage and virtual production studio.
John was invited by Disguise, formerly Meptik, to support the project with design integration and technical draughting. Working across information from multiple specialist contractors and disciplines, John helped coordinate the developing design and produce unified drawing sets, bringing the project’s LED, automation, rigging and technical infrastructure together into a coordinated drawing package for the wider project team.
As the project progressed, the role developed beyond design and coordination into on-site involvement in Cincinnati, supporting the team and helping to oversee key stages of the installation process. This provided continuity between the coordinated technical information developed during pre-production and its implementation within the auditorium.
The completed installation combines large-scale LED, automation, tracking, broadcast and real-time technologies, including four moving tracked LED walls, stationary LED elements, an upstage vanish screen, GhostFrame-enabled LED floor and LED integrated around the proscenium. Together, these systems allow Crossroads to transform the auditorium for live audiences whilst simultaneously supporting XR livestreams, broadcast content and virtual production.
Delivered by Disguise and Diversified alongside TAIT, Concept Pixels, Atlanta Rigging Systems, Megapixel, Production Designer Nathan Paul Taylor and a wider team of specialist contractors, the project has created one of the world’s most advanced immersive worship environments.
